Crack Control Workflow for Plastering Layers

Crack control starts before mortar is placed. The base wall should be cleaned, weak corners should be repaired, and the fixing line should be marked clearly. A welded wire mesh layer can then be set as reinforcement for the plastering area. The mesh needs to stay close to the base, because a loose roll may lift after mortar covers it.

Opening the roll is also important. Workers should keep the roll flat and avoid sharp folds. Overlap areas should be arranged before large-area plastering begins. If two mesh edges meet without enough overlap, the joint area may become weaker than the rest of the wall. Fasteners should hold the mesh evenly rather than pulling one side too tight.

After fixing, the surface needs a final check. Look for loose edges, exposed wire ends, and parts that do not touch the base layer. Damaged coating should be handled before mortar work. A clean fixing process helps welded wire mesh support the plastering layer and reduce later repair work. It also keeps the construction team from covering hidden defects too early. When the wall has corners, pipe openings, or window edges, add extra attention to the mesh position because these areas often move first during drying.
