Using Barrier Wire Safely On Walls And Fence Lines

Jun 03, 2026|

Barrier wire is used when a boundary needs a clear warning effect, but safe handling is just as important as the product itself. Before installation, the wall height, fence strength, fixing points, and local safety rules should be checked. Concertina coils need firm end posts or brackets because the coil will pull back when it is opened. Workers should use thick gloves, long sleeves, and eye protection, and the coil should not be released until it is close to the final position.

Coil diameter also changes the layout. A 450 mm or 500 mm coil is common for wall tops, while larger coils are used for wider ground barriers or long fence lines. Warning signs should be placed where people can see them. After installation, loose clips, open ends, and weak brackets should be checked again. This helps the barrier stay neat and lowers the chance of accidental injury during later maintenance.
