Chain Link Fence Details That Affect Site Installation

Jun 03, 2026|

A chain link fence looks simple, but several small details can change the installation result. Mesh opening, wire diameter, roll height, edge type, and post spacing should be confirmed before the material is shipped. For a sports court or yard boundary, 50 mm mesh is often enough. For small animals or places where loose objects may pass through the fence, a smaller mesh is easier to manage. The edge can be knuckled for safer handling or twisted when the top needs a sharper lock.

During installation, corner posts and end posts should be set first because they carry the pulling force. The mesh roll should then be stretched evenly, not pulled from one small point. Tie wire spacing also matters. If the mesh is only tied at a few points, the surface may wave after use. A clear packing list with roll width, length, mesh size, and wire diameter makes site checking faster.
